Don't spend your evenings pouring over thousands of WordPress themes looking for "the one" and then months trying and failing to get it to look as good as the demo. Your business is one of a kind. Time is money. And good design is more than good looks.
Your website is the core of your business strategy.
The first interaction a potential client will have with your business will most likely be a digital one. Your website should be:
Just say no to templates! Every website I design is customized to your business goals and client needs.
Your goals and the needs of your ideal clients inform the design at every stage of the process.
I'll get you set up with Google Analytics so you can measure your success and fix what's not working.
Skip the expensive and disruptive redesigns and instead make smart updates as you build your business.
The key to a smooth project and successful website is a well-defined and holistic process. In addition to regular video chat meetings and progress updates, I'll send you tips related to each phase of the project, as well as information, tools, and resources to help you create a marketing plan for your new website.
The first step is to learn about your business. We'll talk about the purpose of your website, your goals, your competitors, and your ideal clients.
The next step is to plan. We'll discuss features such as calendars, forms, and calls to action. I'll create a map of your site's pages and rough outlines of your key pages.
At this point, we'll have a clear idea of the written and visual content you'll need. You'll use my online content tool to write, submit, and revise your content.
Now it's time for the visual design. I'll create a style guide and mockups of your key pages. You'll have up to 3 rounds of feedback and refinement.
Your website comes to life. I use all of the elements to create a beautiful and functional website. When I'm done, I'll test everything and send a link for you to view your site and give feedback.
Time to launch your website. With foundational SEO and a marketing plan in place, you'll have a running start to success.
I'll provide foundational optimization to give you a running start to search engine ranking, plus give you tips and guidance for ongoing SEO.
For WordPress sites, I'll install and configure my recommended plugins for security, SEO, updates, and backups.
Content is the most important part of your website. I'll edit your copy to make sure your message is concise, clear, and error-free.
Training + Support
We'll have a 60-minute screen share training session to review features specific to your site. Plus, you'll get 30 days of email support.
It depends upon the complexity, size, goals, and functionality—as well as your responsiveness and the quality of your participation. Most projects have an 8 to 12-week time frame, while larger and more complex website projects can take 6 months or longer. If you have a tight deadline, and my schedule allows, I'm happy to consider rush projects.
We'll communicate primarily via email with weekly video chat meetings for strategy and presentation. Good communication is important to the success of a project. Working with me, you will always know where we are in the process, what's been done, what's next, and what I need from you. You'll have many opportunities to ask questions and provide ideas.
I use WordPress or Webflow, depending on your needs. WordPress is a powerful content management system (CMS) and can power just about any type of website with plugins and custom design and development. However, it does have some drawbacks. WordPress is notoriously insecure, can be difficult to update and maintain for the non-coder (despite how easy they say it is to use), and the cost of plugins and hosting can really add up. For these reasons, I'm using Webflow more frequently. Webflow is fast, secure, and easy to update and maintain. We'll discuss the pros and cons in detail when we talk to decide what would work best for you.
For every website project I provide basic keyword research, 301 redirects, optimized title tags, meta tags, alt tags, and internal links, and create and submit an XML sitemap to search engines.
My 6-year-old blog, with over 500 posts, needed an overhaul. Jen's professional approach and attention to detail did a lot to ease my nerves and changed the project from daunting to enjoyable. My new site is gorgeous and fits perfectly with my brand. Even better, my readers love how easy it is to use and I've seen an increase in traffic since the redesign.
Custom website design starts at $5,500.
Good design is good business.
